Sisal is a great part to work with in making avian
toys
when there’s thought in its design, actual construction
of the toy &
research into which sisal products to use…
GFBToys does NOT use sisal rope (or 100% cotton
rope)
to construct small critter to rabbit toys due to the
possible consumption
health issues these items
could cause. Part of the research that was done, I
spoke
with a few veterinarians about what were the most items
they found that
could possibly cause blockage needing surgery
to be removed from a rabbits
gut/intestines…
sisal & cotton (!00% or cotton/poly blend).
Nor do sisal or 100% cotton, especially cotton/poly
blends
brake down in the stomach for easy passage.
Sisal is another product that it is important to
remember:
Not
all similar looking parts are made the same!!
Sisal is made in several countries, coil footage
&
available in varying thicknesses. But you as the consumer
&/or
toy maker should do research to know what
you are purchasing & using.
Sisal is available from several countries like:
China, Taiwan, Mexico & Spain.
GFBToys uses sisal made in Spain on its toys from
jumbo rolls.
CreativeBirdToys.com has sisal in 100ft rolls from
Mexico.
Does your Sisal Rope contain oils or not??
